YOU CAN’T REGAIN THE PAST
The past is a time where we experienced happy times. A lot of people said we could turn the clock back, but it is only imagination that haunt our minds. Perhaps there is also did it. Sometimes people are always anxious to face the future. Why? Because they are already attached to the past were very happy. Like a story from the book "The Great Gatsby".

Tom Buchanan is the athletic guy since he was in college. He is sometimes seen as an idol. Tom is good-looking, sporty. He is very egoistic and he has no problem about his affair with Myrtle Wilson. He is also a rude and violent person who sometimes act impassioned and envious. "You're crazy!" he exploded. "I can't speak about what happened five years ago, because I didn't know Daisy then—and I'll be damned if I see how you got within a mile of her unless you brought the groceries to the back door. But all the rest of that's a God damned lie. Daisy loved me when she married me and she loves me now."(chapter 7 page 276). He’s never responsible for his fault because always running away when he is in trouble, he describes as a restless person.

But, everything is totally lost his dream world and not able to find back to reality. ‘‘I wouldn’t ask too much of her,’ I ventured. ‘You can’t repeat the past.’ ‘Can’t repeat the past?’ he cried incredulously. ‘Why of course you can!’ He looked around him wildly, as if the past were lurking here in the shadow of his house, just out of reach of his hand. ‘I’m going to fix everything just the way it was before,’ he said, nodding determinedly. ‘She’ll see.’(chapter 6 page 118).

Daisy Buchanan based on Ginevra King. |
The rich and wild girl is Daisy Buchanan. Married with Tom only because he is handsome and material things have a great importance to her. She loves to exaggerate and extemporize. She also hopes to be liked and popular among the men around her. She wants to impress men including Gatsby. Daisy is a careless person that you can see the book in her behaviour when she has hit Myrtle and run using Gatsby’s car.” ‘You two start on home, Daisy,’ said Tom. ‘In Mr. Gatsby’s car.’ “ (chapter 7 page 144). “The ‘death car’ as the newspapers called it, didn’t stop; it came out of the gathering darkness, wavered tragically for a moment and then disappeared around the next bend. Michaelis wasn’t even sure of its color—he told the first policeman that it was light green. The other car, the one going toward New York, came to rest a hundred yards beyond, and its driver hurried back to where Myrtle Wilson, her life violently extinguished, knelt in the road and mingled her thick, dark blood with the dust.” (chapter 7 page 147).
We can’t go back like in the past. Time is ticking so fast. Don’t have power or magic to turn back. Money is not your friends, is just part of your life. You only live once.
